Our SORAT Hotels in Brandenburg, Cottbus and Regensburg have received the Greensign level 4 award, the second best possible result.
About Greensign
The Greensign sustainability certification is awarded by the Greensign Institut GmbH from Berlin. It is a certification catalog recognized by the world-renowned Global Sustainable Tourism Council for determining the level of sustainability of a hotel. The certification is divided into five levels, which indicate how many of the certification criteria a hotel meets. In order to receive Greensign certification, a hotel must first complete the comprehensive list of requirements. This contains more than 100 criteria, which are broken down into eight core areas. In addition to ecological sustainability, social, cultural and economic aspects are also taken into account. Each requirement is assigned a corresponding number of points. In addition, the establishment of an environmental program in which concrete development goals are set is mandatory. The hotel's information is first checked by the Greensign experts. An on-site audit is then carried out, whereby all information is put to the test. After completion of the test, the degree of compliance with the Greensign criteria is determined. This value is used to classify the hotel into a sustainability level. The range extends from Level 1 for initial sustainable approaches to Level 5 for very convincing implementation. The level a hotel has achieved can be seen on the certificate, which is issued for three years. The Greensign sustainability barometer, which every hotel receives after certification, transparently presents the performance of each hotel in the individual core areas.
